The Le Fèvre Lectures were established in 1985 following a gift from Prof. RJW Le Fèvre, who was the Head of the School of Chemistry from 1946 to 1970 and internationally renowned for his work in physical-organic chemistry. The lectureships are normally awarded to outstanding PhD students in the final year of their studies. Up to three prizes may be awarded annually by the Dean of the Faculty of Science, on the recommendation of the Council of the Sydney University Chemical Society (subject to the approval of the Head of School).
